Balloons Allergy
When I was a child, my mom told me I had a balloon allergy. Now that I am an adult, I’ve learned that it wasn’t the balloons I was allergic to, but the latex in the balloons. What are some other products I need to be aware of that contain latex?
There are roughly 40,000 products that contain natural rubber latex. The chance of you coming into contact with a product that contains latex is very high. Common products include condoms, medical gloves, pacifiers, undergarments, socks and even grocery store checkout belts.
Vytex® Natural Rubber Latex (NRL) is an eco-friendly latex material that significantly reduces the antigenic proteins found in natural rubber latex. Produced through a novel, patented process, Vytex NRL retains all the positive qualities of latex with virtually undetectable levels of the antigenic proteins that can cause latex allergies. Look for natural rubber latex products carrying the “Vytex® NRL” logo for a better latex with greatly reduced protein levels.
If you or someone you know might be allergic to latex, contact your physician or healthcare provider about your concerns and consider being tested for latex allergy.
