Bath Rug Allergy
Many people suffer from a bath rug allergy, yet the cause of their allergy may be from an unexpected source: the latex backing of the rug that prevents the rug from slipping. This backing could be harmful if you have a high level of sensitivity toward latex. Skin irritation coupled with red discoloration can be indicators of a latex allergy. Coming in direct contact with the latex backing or breathing in the airborne proteins from the latex backing may trigger severe allergic reactions associated with latex allergies.
Latex allergies can be caused by repeated exposure to the antigenic proteins found in latex products. Some of these symptoms include:
Products made with Vytex® Natural Rubber Latex (NRL), an ultra-low protein latex material, offer numerous health, safety and environmental benefits to manufacturers and end users. Vytex NRL is an eco-friendly, advanced latex material with virtually undetectable levels of the antigenic proteins that can lead to latex allergies. Vytex NRL can be easily incorporated into existing manufacturing processes of natural rubber latex and could ultimately help people from developing reactions to latex found in bath rugs.
If you are suffering from an allergy you think may be caused from your bath rug please contact your physician about your concerns and consider being tested for latex allergy.
