Symptoms of Latex Allergy

Symptoms of latex allergy are similar to symptoms of other allergies or topical reactions and can frequently go undiagnosed.  Natural Rubber Latex (NRL) is used in 40,000 products including condoms, the elastic in your clothing, the foam in your mattresses and pillows, and the balloons your children play with.  Latex contains over 200 proteins, 13 of which are suspected allergens.

Latex-sensitive people can have allergic reactions to one of the tens of thousands of products that contain latex.

Some of these symptoms include:

  • Skin Irritation
  • Skin Rash
  • Hives
  • Watery or Irritated Eyes
  • Swollen Eyes
  • Itching and/or Difficulty Breathing

Vytex® NRL is an eco-friendly latex material that significantly reduces the antigenic proteins found in natural rubber latex.  Produced through a novel, patented process, Vytex NRL retains all the positive qualities of latex – including barrier protection, tensile strength, elasticity, comfort and fit – with virtually undetectable levels of the antigenic proteins that can cause latex allergies.

If you or someone you know are experiencing symptoms of latex allergy, make an effort to identify any latex product you use on a regular basis.  Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about Vytex NRL or contact your physician about your concerns and consider being tested for latex allergy.
